Ethical Gold

The New Zealand Government has strict regulation controlling mining right through from capability to robust environmental requirements. Regulation is focused on ensuring that mining is undertaken by experienced operators that report their production and enhance the environment they operate in including rehabilitation to leave the environment better than before mining. This is achieved through skilled operators recontouring land post mining and in some cases pest control to enhance biodiversity.

Awa believes in leaving the land better than before it was mined, whether it be returning to farmland, commercial forestry or replanting natives our miners are committed to leaving the land as good as it can get.

Intensive monitoring by local and central government occurs during and post mining to ensure the regulations are met or exceeded.

We believe in the Māori principle of Kaitiakitanga. We believe we are guardians of the natural and physical world - if we look after our environment it will look after us.
